Phynx is a web-based software tool that supports the conduct of pharmacoepidemiological drug safety studies in large automated health care databases. It provides a flexible and easy to use solution for data management, as well as for display and interactive review of patient-level medical information in the individual clinical context using a common web-browser. Phynx therefore allows validation of outcomes as it is frequently required in cohort and case-control studies, and also in extended pharmacovigilance analyses. Phynx has been designed to optimize process efficiency and can reduce costs and resources required for the conduct of drug safety studies.

Phynx was first developed for use with datasets from the UK General Practice Research Database (GPRD). However, it can also be applied to other data resources. The original development and application has recently been published in Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety:

Phynx - An Open Source Software Solution Supporting Data Management and Web-based Patient-Level Data Review for Drug Safety Studies in the General Practice Research Database and Other Health Care Databases.

You can view a sample of Phynx patient profiles based on GPRD data here.

If you have any further questions regarding the use of Phynx for your drug safety studies in the GPRD or any other medical database please send us an e-mail or leave your feedback.
